Fishing boat sunk by China to be displayed at Hoang Sa Exhibition House
The Da Nang People's Committee has approved the adjustment to the detailed construction plan of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Exhibition House project in Son Tra District’s Tho Quang Ward.
The remains of DNa 90152 TS will be displayed to southwest of Hoang Sa Exhibition House |
The intention is to earmark a location to southwest of the house for the display of local fishing boat DNa 90152 TS which was rammed and sank by Chinese boats in Vietnamese waters off the Hoang Sa Archipelago in 2014, during China’s illegal placement of the Haiyang Shiyou 981 oil rig in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
The soon-to-be-displayed area is adjacent to the Border Guard Station No 252 and the Hoang Sa Street. 105m2 out of the total planned area of 1,162m2 will be earmarked to display the fishing boat, whilst the remainder covers the exhibition house, yards, traffic infrastructure, trees-covered and parking areas, and more.
The DNa 90152 TS’s owner, Mrs Huynh Thi Nhu Hoa from Thanh Khe District, has donated the remains of her vessel to the Da Nang authorities in the hopes that it would be preserved and displayed as evidence of the attack by Chinese ships on Vietnamese fishing boats in Viet Nam’s sovereign waters.
The exhibition house, located at the corner of Hoang Sa and Phan Ba Phien officially opened its doors to public in March.
