In particular, with the help of the Yokohama government and the Takematsu Company, the municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment has conducted a pilot project for recycling food waste into animal feed within the city. In addition, an effective solution to mud treatment at a landfill of the city's solid waste treatment complex has been found.

Moreover, under the support of the Yokohama government, the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has given suggestions to the Da Nang authorities about a master plan for the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf and the construction of a natural disaster mitigation centre in the city.

Furthermore, the municipal Department of Industry, and Trade and the Da Nang University of Science and Technology have joined forces with the Yokohama government, the Yokohama National University, and the Osumi Corporation to implement an energy saving project for buildings and industrial parks in the city.

The municipal Department of Transportation has been coordinating with the Yokohama government and the Japan Transportation Planning Association to ask the Japanese government to give Da Nang a helping hand to conduct feasible studies on developing an automated roadmap system in the locality.

On behalf of the Japanese guests, Mr Toru Hashimoto, the Executive Director of Development Cooperation Department of Yokohama City, spoke highly of the fruitful results from the bilateral cooperative programmes with Da Nang over recent years.

He also asked for help from the Da Nang authorities to create very favourable conditions for the Takematsu Company to open its branch in the city, as well as for the Osumi Corporation to install its seafood refrigeration equipment in the locality.

Mr Toru Hashimoto affirmed that Da Nang and Yokohama governments would join forces to organise the 2019 Da Nang Urban Development Forum, and share sustainable development-related information at the Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC) and the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) in the years ahead.
