Thinh said the festival, themed “Sound Bridge”, is a rendezvous for the world’s leading composers and musical artists, introducing Vietnamese music to international friends.
It also offers foreign artists a chance to learn about Vietnam, its people and culture, as well as traditional folk music, thereby strengthening ties between Vietnamese and foreign composers, she said.
The Vice President added that the Vietnamese State always offers all possible support to Vietnamese composers to make the most of their talent, such as establishing the Vietnamese Musicians’ Association, and launching professional training establishments, such as the Vietnam National Academy of Music, the National Ballet Theatre, or the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
She expressed her wish that Vietnam would continue stepping up international music cooperation, contributing to the world music treasure, adding that she hopes each artist attending the festival will become a musical messenger, blossoming an atmosphere of peace and development.
Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnamese Musicians’ Association - the festival organizer, said that over 70 musical pieces will be performed in different genres in seven programmes during the festival.
