City leaders extend congratulations on Lao National Day

A group of the Da Nang leaders, led by municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien, recently visited the Laos Consulate General in Da Nang and extended their greetings to its staff on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Laos’ National Day (2 December).

Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien underlined that, under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Laotian people have struggled for national independence, recorded many socio-economic development achievements, ensured political stability, and enhanced the position of Laos in ASEAN and in the international arena as a whole.

In particular, over recent years, the time-honoured special traditional friendship between Da Nang and Laotian localities, and between the 2 countries as a whole, has been strengthened.

Da Nang and many Laotian localities have jointly implemented a number of cooperative programmes, including bilateral exchanges of delegations, and their mutual support in planning, agriculture, and healthcare.

In reply, Consul General Viengxay Phommachanh expressed his sincere thanks to Da Nang, and Viet Nam at large, for their active support and valuable assistance to his country over the past year.

The Laotian diplomat highly appreciated the great effectiveness of bilateral cooperation programmes, especially Da Nang’s timely aids given to Attapeu province to help it overcome the consequences the July hydropower dam collapse.

He, in particular, pledged that he and the Laos Consulate General staff would do their utmost to lift the friendship and cooperation between the 2 sides to new heights, hereby strengthening the “forever green and forever sustainable” friendship and solidarity between the 2 countries in the years ahead.
