In her remarks at the 9th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 9th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term on Monday, Chairwoman Ngan said the meeting took place following a working session between the Politburo and the standing board of the municipal Party Committee to discuss the 15-year implementation of the 9th Politburo’s Resolution No 33 on the city’s construction and its development during the process of industrialisation and modernisation. As a result, a new resolution on the city’s development for 2030 with a vision toward 2045 has been issued at this important meeting.
Mrs Ngan also highlighted the urgent need for the city to develop a comprehensive strategy with new development models and breakthrough mechanisms and policies so that its growth rate will not level off.
In addition, the national leader underscored the importance of developing Da Nang in a modern, smart, livable, global city boasting distinctive cultural identity by focusing on 3 main pillars: tourism, hi-tech, and marine economy.
It is necessary to review urban space planning in line with the principles of intelligent development, comprehension and sustainability, and to promote urban government development.
Effective measures should be taken to implement the master plan for fostering the city’s progress by 2030, with a vision towards 2045, with an emphasis on maximising regional linkages.
Special heed should be paid to ensuring harmony between economic and socio-cultural development, and creating a high level of consensus amongst locals.
In order to successfully implement the 14th NA’s resolution adopted at its 6th session, the municipal People’s Council needs to intensively discuss key measures for 2019; accelerate administrative and judicial reform, and boost the city’s ability to tackle corruption; and stimulate production and trade.
Mrs Ngan stated that the NA Standing Committee will continue to support Da Nang in carrying out the Politburo’s upcoming resolution, particularly its special policies and mechanisms.
The top legislator pledged to consider the municipal People’s Council’s suggestions regarding special policies and mechanisms to smoothen the city’s conditions for sustainable development, allowing it to become a driving force for the central and Central Highlands regions, as well as a centre of the key economic zone in the south-central and central coastal regions.
