After a 3-day sitting, the 9^th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 9^th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term concluded on Wednesday with Q&A and closing events.

During the 3 days, a resolution on next year’s key tasks to accelerate the city’s progress was passed by Council members.

The focus will be on managing State budget collection and spending in a more effective manner, and combating tax losses to the city budget.

Also, importance will be attached to appropriately adjusting the city's master plan for 2030, with a vision towards 2045, accelerating the implementation of a programme on urban development for the 2018 - 2030 period, and upgrading the former Han River port into a tourist port.

Furthermore, the 3-day session also saw the adoption of 28 other important resolutions on aspects of deep concern.

Notable amongst them were on naming and renaming streets and public works across the city, increasing the poverty thresholds applied in 2019 and 2020, releasing special allowance policies for those who work at drug detoxification and rehabilitation establishments, merging some villages in Hoa Vang District into new one, developing next year’s basic construction investment plans, determining the spending on the nutrition regime for high-achievement coaches and athletes in the city.

Also at the session, Le Trung Chinh, the incumbent Ngu Hanh Son District Party Committee Secretary, was elected municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman with 93.75% approval rate from People’s Council members to replace Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuan who has retired.

Mr Doan Ngoc Hung Anh, the Head of the Authority of Da Nang's Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Parks, was promoted to the Head of the municipal People’s Committee Office.

Likewise, Mr Huynh Duc Truong, the Chairman of the municipal Union of Friendship Organisations, was appointed the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Besides, both Mr Anh and Mr Truong were elected members of the municipal People’s Committee in its 9^th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term with 93.77 % approval rate from People’s Council members.
