Foreign diplomats extend Tet wishes to city leaders
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Viet Nam Lianys Torres Rivera and Lao Consul General in Da Nang Viengxay Phommachanh on Monday paid visits to Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia to extend Tet greetings to the city leaders and local residents.

During his reception for Ms Lianys Torres Rivera, Secretary Nghia applauded her first Da Nang trip, and expressed his pleasure at seeing the Viet Nam- Cuba time-honoured relationships grow stronger.
The city Party chief affirmed Da Nang has always attached great importance to developing cooperative ties with Cuban localities through visits to this Caribbean nation made by city leaders in 2016 and 2018.
The host also asked for active help from the Cuban Ambassador in developing bilateral cooperation with organisations and localities of her country in tourism, hi-tech, biotechnology, planning management, especially appealing to Cuban investors for the city’s Hi-tech Park.
In reply, Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera affirmed the fact that Cuban localities and Da Nang boast a lot of cooperation potential in the aspects of tourism, medicine and pharmacy, biotechnology, and handicraft industry.
She vowed to be actively engaged in increasingly strengthening the ties between Da Nang and Cuban localities, and between the two countries at large, in a sustainable and in-depth manner in the coming time.
During his meeting with Secretary Nghia, Lao Consul General in Da Nang Viengxay Phommachanh expressed his delight at fine development in friendship and solidarity between Da Nang and Lao localities, and between the two countries as a whole, in recent years.
In particular, the Laotian diplomat sincerely thanked Da Nang for giving timely assistance to Laotian localities over the past years. He hoped the city would gain even more success in its socio-economic progress in the coming time.
In reply, the host asked for more active involvement by his Laotian guest in supporting highly efficient bilateral cooperation programmes with Laotian localities in the aspects of healthcare, education, and cultural exchanges.
At the same time, he re-affirmed Da Nang’s stature in conducting cooperation and support programmes with Laos localities in the years ahead, hereby contributing to preserving and accelerating the special friendship between the two countries.
