Prime Minister meets with local government officials in central region

A delegation from the national government, led by Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc, on Monday, paid pre-Tet visits to incumbent leaders and retired high-ranking officials of Party committees in the central region on the threshold of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

He also met with officers of the Military Zone 5 High Command, retired senior officials of Da Nang, and representatives of the authorities of localities from Thua Thien - Hue to Quang Ngai.

During their meetings with the national leader, representatives from the Party committees in the central region reported to him about the implementation of assigned duties last year, and this year’s key tasks.

For his part, PM Phuc briefed participants on the nation’s socio-economic performance in 2018, highlighting remarkable achievements across aspects from economy, administrative reform, to anti-corruption. 

Thanks to the above-mentioned achievements, Viet Nam’s position has been improved in the international arena, he remarked.

PM Phuc asked central localities to devise measures to ensure socio-political stability, hereby helping to promote economic development, towards turning Viet Nam into a developed country by 2045.

He also encouraged retired senior officials to continue to set bright examples in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to creating a spirit of exciting emulation in the localities.

Also on Monday, municipal Party Committee Deputy Standing Secretary Vo Cong Tri played host to the Political Commissar of the General Department II under the Ministry of Defence, led by Lieutenant-General Phan Van Viet.

Lieutenant-General Viet hoped that the city would record even more success in its socio-economic progress in the coming time, and enjoy a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year.
