MoU on Da Nang-Sakai cooperation signed

Last Saturday in Japan’s Sakai City, representatives from the Da Nang and Sakai City authorities entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bilateral cooperation.

Under the MoU, short-term government employee exchanges, human resource development, and urban environment management will be enhanced.

Japanese and Vietnamese language teaching programmes, and cultural exchange activities, will be organised at educational establishments, especially universities, in both cities.

Notably, Sakai City will help Da Nang train human resource for its nursing sector through cooperative programmes with Sakai businesses.

In particular, human resources involving nursing in Da Nang will be facilitated to work in nursing centres and hospitals in Sakai. Meanwhile, Da Nang will send human resources involving such aspects as construction and information technology to study and work in Sakai.

Greater efforts will be made to organise more investment promotion activities, and build a business network through the reception of investment survey delegations from Da Nang in Sakai. Also, investment promotion workshops will be held in both cities.

The Da Nang authorities will provide support services to Sakai-based businesses who want to invest in the city.

Representative offices will be set up in both two cities to give active assistance to local enterprises and citizens in a certain period of time.

Da Nang and Sakai will regularly send their delegations to participate in cultural exchange events, including the Sakai ASEAN Week and the Viet Nam-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival.

Importance will be attached to boosting the advertisement of tourism publications, as well as organising more fascinating cultural and tourism events in the two cities at least once a year.

Heed will also be paid to organising sports exchange activities and sending athletes from the localities to attend the KIX Senshu International Marathon, the Sakai City Marathon, the Da Nang International Marathon and others.

In his remarks at the signing ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh conveyed a message from Chairman Huynh Duc Tho that he congratulated the Da Nang and Sakai authorities on signing the MoU, and highlighted the significance of the signing in deepening the bilateral cooperative relationship and strategic partnership with Sakai, and Japan as a whole.

Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka Vu Tuan Hai believed that the signing of MoU would help to enrich bilateral cooperation between Sakai and Da Nang in such aspects as culture, education and people-to-people exchange activities in the coming time.

On this occasion, both Da Nang and Sakai signed a commitment to become friendship cities with the hope of promoting the sustainable development of their localities through the implementation of many exchange programmes between Viet Nam and Japan.

On 22 February, a delegation from the Da Nang People’s Committee, led by Vice Chairman Chinh visited some cultural establishments in Sakai, as well as paid courtesy visits to Mayor of Sakai City Osami Takeyama and Chairman of Sakai City Council Noriko Yamaguchi.
