During the meeting, the Party chief Nghia highly lauded the hospital’s leaders and medical staff for their significant efforts in meeting the demand for medical examinations and treatment of people in the city and from its neighbouring localities.

Mr Nghia added the current 500-bed hospital has been faced with patient overload as recent years have seen growing number of patients in the hospital.

He stressed the need for the hospital to appeal for more foreign investment to improve its facilities, enhance the professional skills of medical workers, and exchange experiences with foreign medical specialists in a bid to satisfy the increasing demand of patients.

He also agreed with the hospital’s leaders about the establishment of an International-standard Ward soon.

He believed healthcare service would be one of the city’s spearhead economic sectors. He, therefore, underlined the necessity for the healthcare sector to develop international-standard medical services in order to facilitate patients with life-threatened diseases to receive medical treatment here instead of going abroad.

On the occasion, Secretary Nghia wished the hospital’s medical staff, especially female medical workers, good health on the International Women’s Day.

He also visited and presented gifts to some poor patients receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

Since its official operation in September 2015, the Da Nang Cancer Hospital has had a total of 553 medical workers, including 110 doctors.

It now consists of 8 administration offices and 20 specialised wards.

To date, the hospital has given medical examinations and treatment to a large number of patients from 62 cities and provinces nationwide. Amongst them, patients from Da Nang have recorded the highest number, accounting for 32.2% of the total.
