In his remarks at the ceremony, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien noted the idea for building this house came from the sacred sentiment of the Party, leaders, and people of Da Nang towards Truong Sa islanders.
He also highlighted the importance of the house in enhancing the spiritual lives of soldiers as there was a community space for them to exchange cultural activities.
Rear Admiral Ngo Sy Quyet, Deputy Commander of the Viet Nam People's Navy High Command, underlined the significance of the house in developing new facilities on the island, helping soldiers fulfil their assigned tasks in safeguarding the national security and sovereignty over its sea and islands.
Mr Quyet emphasised the construction of the house on the Da Lat Island showcased the joint efforts of the Party, leaders and people of Da Nang in protecting the national sovereignty over its sea and islands.
Work started on the nearly 40 billion VND house in late January 2018, and the construction cost was funded by the Da Nang budget.
The around 900m2 house features a basement, 3 floors, a watch tower, rain and fresh water storage tanks, poultry farms, a community house, and a room for organising cultural activities.
In addition, there are a common space for soldiers to grow vegetables and a 71m-long bridge connecting with old house.
The house is also considered as a storm shelter for fishing vessels.
