City leader hosts Japanese guests
During his reception on Friday morning for a group of visitors from Japan’s Yokohama City, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Huynh Duc Tho expressed his delight at the fruitful results from numerous bilateral cooperative programmes between the 2 cities over recent years.

Chairman Tho remarked his city has been actively implementing Politburo's Resolution No 43-NQ/TW about building and promoting the development of Da Nang by 2030, with a vision towards 2045. Besides, the city has been focusing on dealing with pressing issues about environment, traffic hotspots, and housing.
The city leader said Da Nang was in need of help from the Yokohama government in finding solutions to the above-mentioned issues.
Chairman Tho remarked that his city is welcoming Japanese investors to seek investment opportunities in the city in the years ahead.
On behalf of the Japanese guests, Mr Toru Hashimoto, the Executive Director of Development Cooperation Department of Yokohama City, spoke highly of the rapid economic growth of Da Nang over recent years.
The Japanese guest said Da Nang and Yokohama have inked 3 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on boosting bilateral cooperation.
Under the MoU, Yokohama has shared its experience on sustainable urban development with Da Nang, and played a vital role in appealing for Japanese investors to pour their money into the seaside city.
Mr Toru Hashimoto hoped that Da Nang and Yokohama would continue to implement the bilateral cooperative programmes in a comprehensive manner.
He revealed that at the upcoming Da Nang Urban Development Forum which is slated to be held in August, representatives from Japan’s Yokohama City authorities would enthusiastically give their constructive ideas for transportation development, seaport construction, and investment promotion activities.
In addition, discussions will be focus on bilateral cooperative programmes relating to treating wastewater at the Tho Quang fishing wharf.
