During his reception on Thursday for Uruguayan Ambassador to Viet Nam Portell Casanova Maria Del Rosario, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh remarked his city has been focusing on promoting the development of tourism, hi-tech and information technology (IT) sectors.

He revealed recent years have seen a dramatic increase in the number of visitors to the city. Many IT and hi-tech projects have been implemented effectively.

The host, however, added there are no Uruguayan businesses operating in Da Nang. Therefore, he said his city needs a helping hand from the Uruguayan diplomat to appeal for investors from his country to pour their money into such the city’s aspects as IT, tourism, seaports, and high-tech agriculture.

In reply, the Uruguayan Ambassador noted his country has great potential for the development of high-tech agriculture, seaports, and IT applications in the public administration system. He added these aspects are matching with the city’s development orientations in the future.

Mr Portell vowed that during his tenure in Viet Nam he would exert every effort to open up new investment opportunities between Da Nang and Uruguayan localities in the years ahead.
