Promoting bilateral cooperation with Gold Coast City
On Thursday, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho played host to a group of visitors from the Gold Coast City in the Australian state of Queensland, led by its Mayor Tom Tate.

Chairman Tho expressed his delight at the fine development of the bilateral ties with some Australian localities over recent years, and introduced his guests to the city’s potential and strengths.
The city leader remarked over the past 2 decades his city has focused on promoting the development of such aspects as tourism services, healthcare, education, hi-tech, and information technology (IT). As a result, the city has gained numerous socio-economic achievements.
The host added a large number of pupils, students and government employees in the city have been sent to Australia for studying. In addition, the municipal Human Resource Development Centre has signed agreements with 4 large Australian universities in order to enhance human resource exchange activities between Da Nang and Australia.
Mr Tho affirmed Da Nang and Gold Coast City shared many similarities, and he highlighted the significance of promoting bilateral cooperation on education, healthcare, tourism, real estate, marine economy, environment, renewable energy, hi-tech, and IT.
For his part, Mayor Tom Tate emphasised the purpose of his visit was to strengthen the bilateral cooperative relations with Da Nang in the aspects of education and tourism.
Therefore, the Australian guest hoped that his city would establish twinning relationships with Da Nang in the coming time, thereby tightening their friendship and cooperation relations in various aspects.
Mr Tom Tate noted his city was willing to share its experience with Da Nang in renewable energy, waste treatment, climate change mitigation, and transport infrastructure development.
