During his reception for the US diplomat, Chairman Tho highly appreciated her great efforts in boosting the bilateral relations with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, over the past years.
The city leader expressed his delight at the fruitful results from the cooperative programmes between Da Nang and some of the US localities over recent years. He remarked that many World Bank-funded infrastructure projects have been implemented effectively in the city, contributing to promoting the city’s progress.
“In addition, the US government has helped to treat dioxin-contaminated soil and sediment at the Da Nang International Airport. Many local students have been granted scholarships from universities in the USA”, he noted.
Taking the opportunity, Chairman Tho asked for help from Ms Tarnowka to appeal for even more investors from her country to visit and learn about the city’s investment climate in the coming time.
In reply, the guest congratulated the city on its remarkable socio-economic achievements.
She said over recent years many businesses from the USA have invested into the city. Most recently, work has started on the 170 million US$ Sunshine aerospace components factory at the Da Nang Hi-tech Park in Hoa Lien Commune, Hoa Vang District. This promised to boost the development of the city’s economy and create job opportunities for local residents in the years ahead.
Ms Tarnowka pledged she would do her utmost to lift the bilateral relations with the USA to new heights.
