City boosts cooperation with 'Heart for Heart' organisation

The Germany-based 'Heart for Heart' organisation will lend a helping hand to Da Nang to train high-quality human resources, and transfer healthcare-related technologies in the years to come.

This statement was made by Dr Erich Lejeune, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the organisation, during his meeting on Wednesday in Da Nang with municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh.

Dr Erich Lejeune remarked with the help of the German organisation, the Cardiovascular Centre at the Da Nang General Hospital have sent some of its doctors to train in Germany in order to enhance their professional skills, whilst some German doctors have been sent to Da Nang to help their colleagues in recent years.

Also, many online medical consultation programmes have been organised by the organisation.

In addition, the German organisation has assisted the University of Da Nang establish international cooperation relations with universities and medical centres in Germany.

Since 2006, the non-profit organisation has funded surgery for hundreds of very poor children with congenital heart disease, donated many modern medical equipment, totalling dozens of billions of VND, to the Da Nang General Hospital. In addition, it has helped trained many Vietnamese cardiologists.

For his part, Vice Chairman Minh highly lauded the great contributions made by Dr Erich Lejeune in particular, and the 'Heart for Heart' organisation in general over recent years.

The city leader also agreed with the German guest’s proposal for some cooperative programmes with Da Nang in the time ahead. He noted the programmes totally match with the development strategies of the local healthcare sector.
