Vice Chairman Chinh expressed his delight at the fruitful results from the cooperative programmes between Da Nang and the Japanese locality and university over recent years.

He emphasised there are now many Japanese language training centres in the city. Hundreds of Vietnamese students, including those from Da Nang, attend short-term and long-term training courses in Japan every year.

He also remarked his city and Nagasaki Province shared many similarities in tourism development orientations. He, therefore, hoped the both localities would enhance their tourism cooperation programmes in order to fully tap their potential.

Mr Chinh said the city would pay special attention to promoting the publicity of enrollment information of the Japanese Language School in Goto City amongst senior high school pupils across the city, as well as enhancing lecturer and student exchanges between the two sides.

On behalf of the Japanese visitors, Mr Shinobu Inanaga, the Chief Director of the Association of Nagasaki Prefectural University, underlined the importance of the Japanese Language School in Goto City in facilitating students from Asian countries, including Viet Nam, to study Japanese language.

He added the school would conduct its first enrollment activities in 2020 with many incentives for tuition fees, accommodation conditions, and scholarships for students.

During his meeting with Deputy Mayor of Sakai City Tokihiro Nakan on the same day, Vice Chairman Chinh noted Japan is currently the city’s largest foreign investor, and Da Nang has received an increasing number of Japanese students to study over recent years.

Mr Chinh remarked Da Nang established the bilateral friendship and cooperative relations with Sakai City in 2009. Since then, the two sides have maintained high-ranking official exchanges, and organised many cultural, sports, educational and investment promotion activities.

He said he would like the Sakai government to strengthen cooperative programmes in certain aspects in which the 2 sides show off their strengths.

In reply, Deputy Mayor Nakan expressed his happiness at the good relationships with Da Nang over the past time.

Also, he added Sakai city had sent its artists to Da Nang to attend the Viet Nam-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival 2019 which was taking place at the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge between 26 and 28 July. The purpose was to introduce local residents to the culture and cuisine of Sakai City, and of Japan as a whole.
