City leaders pay tribute to martyrs

On Thursday morning, a group of Da Nang’s leaders, led by municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia, offered incense and laid wreaths at the 2 September Peace Monument and the city’s Martyrs' Cemetery to mark the 72nd anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (27 July). The wreaths carried the words ‘Eternal Gratitude to the Heroic Martyrs’.

The participants observed a minute’s silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s re-unification.

In front of the hallowed memorial to the heroic martyrs, the leaders vowed that the Party, government and people of Da Nang would forever remember the sacrifices of fallen heroes and martyrs for national independence and reunion. Also, they vowed to do their utmost to make Da Nang a big, ecological and smart city, an innovation and startup centre, and the most liveable city in Asia in the years to come.

At the city’s Martyrs' Cemetery, the participants burnt incense at graves of martyrs.

Also on the same day, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho visited and presented gifts to war invalids Dang Ngoc Xao and Nguyen Dinh Thuat, both in Son Tra District.

The city leader wished them good health and a happy life. He hoped that they would continue to educate their grandchildren about national glorious revolutionary traditions and ardent patriotism in order to make greater dedication to the cause of national construction and protection.
