Work starts on memorial stele commemorating Da Nang and Quang Nam martyrs
The groundbreaking ceremony for a memorial stele of martyrs from Da Nang and Quang Nam Province took place at the Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery in Quang Tri Province on Wednesday.

The work is estimated to cost over 1.2 billion VND which will come from the Da Nang budget. It is expected to be inaugurated on 29 March 2020 in order to mark the 45th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Da Nang.
The intention of the work is to express the deep gratitude of the Parties, governments and people of Da Nang and Quang Nam Province to the heroes and martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s re-unification.

According to the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery is the resting place for 10,263 heroes and martyrs who died on the legendary Truong Son trail during the anti-US resistance war. 41 of them were from Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.
Also on the same day, representatives from the city’s Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs burnt incense and laid wreaths at the Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery and the Road No 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery.
