During his reception on Wednesday for South African Ambassador to Viet Nam Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho said proudly that his city boasted a favourable geographical position of being at the end point of the East-West Economic Corridor.

Chairman Tho remarked Da Nang has recorded many remarkable achievements during its progress over the past 22 years. To date, the city has attracted a total of around 3.3 billion USD in foreign direct investment. Besides, many non-stop international air routes from the Da Nang International Airport to destinations around the world have been opened.

The city leader hoped more cultural exchange activities between Da Nang and South Africa would be held frequently. He also expressed his desire the bilateral cooperative relations with South Africa would be strengthened in the years to come.

He also took the opportunity to ask the South African diplomat to do his utmost to appeal for more businesses from his country to invest into Da Nang in such aspects of trade, tourism and finance.

For his part, the guest highlighted fruitful results from the cooperative programmes with Da Nang in recent years.

He expressed his hope that Da Nang businesses would bolster their cooperation in the aspects of agriculture, fruits, agricultural products, minerals and finance in which South Africa showed off its strengths.

Mr Lekgoro pledged to make every effort to encourage even more South African investors to visit Da Nang to learn about its investment climate.
