On Thursday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh hosted a reception for a group of businesspeople from the Netherlands, led by Dutch Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Carel Richter.

Vice Chairman Chinh said his city’s imports and exports with the Netherlands hit 420,000 USD and 13 million USD respectively last year.

He added some Da Nang companies have conduced import/export activities with the Netherlands. Included were the Hoa Tho Textiles and Garments Company, the Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading Joint Stock Company, the Associated Viet Nam Co Ltd, the Duy Thanh Handicraft Products Export Company, and the Tien Thang Garment Export Co Ltd.

In particular, the city is now home to 5 Dutch businesses with the total investment of 488,000 USD. They are the Solar Energy Co Ltd, the Sioux Embedded Systems Company, the Greenstar ELC Company, the Eurasian Corporation, and the The Wave Company.

Mr Chinh affirmed Da Nang has been making every effort to become a smarter city with a focus on developing it into an airport and seaport city. He, therefore, said the city needed a helping hand from the Dutch government to reach its above-mentioned targets.

During their meeting with the Da Nang leader, representatives from Dutch businesses introduced the host to their strengths and potential.

For his part, the Dutch diplomat Carel Richter pledged to boost the implementation of trade promotion programmes, and foster the connection between Da Nang and Dutch businesses, in the coming time.
