On Wednesday, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia played host a group of visitors from the National Assembly of Laos, led by its Vice Chairman Bounpone Bouttanavong.

During his reception for Lao guests, Secretary Nghia remarked Da Nang has been focusing on promoting the development of hi-tech, logistics, healthcare, education, and tourism aspects in recent years.

He suggested that non-stop flights connecting Da Nang with Lao localities of Vientiane and Luang Prabang should be opened in order to fully tap their potentials for developing tourism in the future.

The Party chief said Da Nang has given active assistance to Laos over the past years. In particular, the city has spent 100 billion VND from its budget on implementing cooperation programmes with 5 southern and central localities of Laos during the 2017-2022 period. In September, the city leaders plan to visit these Lao localities in order to review the implementation of the cooperation programmes.

For his part, Vice Chairman Bouttanavong applauded the city’s remarkable socio-economic achivements in recent years. He also agreed with Mr Nghia’s proposal for offering more non-stop flights between Da Nang and Laos in the time ahead.

The Lao guest took the opportunity to thank the Da Nang authorities for their special support for Laos. He also highly appreciated the great effectiveness of the bilateral cooperation programmes with Da Nang which have contributed to deepening the bilateral cooperative ties, long-lasting special solidarity and traditional friendship between the Parties, States, and people of the 2 countries.
