On Wednesday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman  Le Trung Chinh played host to a group of Japanese National Assembly (NA) members, led by Mr Suzuki Keisuke, who is also a member of the House of Representatives.

Vice Chairman Chinh expressed his delight at the growing friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Da Nang and Japanese localities, and between the 2 countries as a whole, over recent years.

He renmarked that his city has to date signed cooperation agreements with 4 Japanese localities, namely Sakai, Kawasaki, Yokohama, and Kisarazu. Over recent years, the Japanese government has provided official development assistance (ODA) capital for many of the city's infrastructure and social welfare projects. Currently, Japan is the city’s largest foreign investor, with 177 projects totalling over 800 million USD. The majority of the Japanese-invested projects involve in such aspects as equipment manufacturing, information technology, real estates, and tourism.

Mr Chinh revealed that Da Nang would build the new Lien Chieu Port, expand International Da Nang Airport, and construct an urban area on the western side of the city. He, therefore, asked for help from Mr Suzuki Keisuke to appeal for even more Japanese businesses to pour their money into the city.

In reply, Mr Suzuki Keisuke remarked the Japanese government attached great importance to promoting the bilateral relations with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.

He added the city’s current development orientations are similar with Japan’s. Therefore, Japan will assist Da Nang to implement its projects effectively, thereby strengthening the bilateral relationships between Da Nang and Japanese localities.
