City leaders host Indian Ambassador

During his meeting on Thursday with Indian Ambassador to Viet Nam Pranay Verma Shri, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia spoke highly of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and India over recent years.

Mr Nghia remarked that Da Nang and India have together implemented projects on setting up a rice seed production establishment in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Tien Commune, building the Viet Nam-India English Training Centre in the city, and conducting research into Champa culture at the Museum of Cham Sculpture.

Besides, the recent visits made by Indian Coast Guard ships to Da Nang have contributed to strengthening exchanges and cooperative relations between the two sides.

The city Party chief also asked for help from the Indian diplomat to appeal for even more businesses from his country to pour their money in such aspects as hi-tech, information technology (IT), healthcare, and education in Da Nang.

He noted the city was very interested in India’s project on building 100 smart cities. He, therefore, said he would like the Indian government to share its experience in implementing the project with Da Nang.

In reply, the Indian ambassador pledged he would make every effort to foster the bilateral friendly and cooperative relations with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as whole, during his tenure in the country.

The guest highly appreciated the city’s dynamic development and its preferential investment attraction policies for the aspects of hi-tech, IT and smarter city construction.

He also underlined the importance of the opening of India-Viet Nam non-stop flights in the coming time in increasing the number of Indian tourists to Da Nang, and Viet Nam as whole.

Mr Shri took the opportunity to invite the city leaders to visit India in the coming time in a bid to promote investment attraction, and expand the bilateral cooperative relations between Da Nang and Indian businesses.

While receiving Indian ambassador Shri on the same day, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho hoped that the Indian guest would encourage even more Indian businesses to visit Da Nang to seek investment opportunities here.

For his part, Mr Shri said that India boasted its strengths in developing the IT sector, so he underlined the necessity for the two sides to pay special attention to boosting bilateral cooperation in this very potential sector.

The Indian guest emphasised both Da Nang and India have many advantages in the development of tourism sector, but the sector has yet to be fully exploited. Therefore, he hoped that the Da Nang-India non-stop services would be launched in the years to come in order to boost the tourism development between the two sides.
