During his Thursday reception for new Russian Consul General Plam Andrey Yurievich, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri hoped that, during his tenure, the Russia diplomat would appeal for even more investors from his country to pour money in such Da Nang’s aspects as hi-tech, IT, trade, services and tourism. In addition, the host also highlighted the significance of promoting the opening of non-stop flights connecting Da Nang with major Russian cities, as soon as possible.

In reply, Mr Plam Andrey Yurievich vowed to boost bilateral ties between Da Nang and Russian localities in a practical manner for mutual interests. Notably, he will also do his best to encourage even more Russian businesses to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang, and to facilitate investors from Da Nang to operate in this transcontinental country.

According to the Russian diplomat, many localities in the Russian Far East show their keen interest in investing in Da Nang, especially in tourism. It is hoped that, from 2020 onwards, Viet Nam will see a growing number of tourist arrivals from Russia, and Da Nang is a much preferred destination for them.

Also on Thursday, whilst playing host to Russian Consul General Plam Andrey Yurievich, municipal People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho remarked, his city has established and promoted bilateral ties with some Russian localities.

In June, a Da Nang delegation visited Russia to foster the bilateral cooperation with Yaroslavl Province in the aspects of commerce, tourism, culture, and education.

Chairman Tho also affirmed the fact that his city and Russia share outstanding similarities in terms of development strategies. He, therefore, asked for help from the Russian Consul General to make greater efforts to lift the bilateral ties with Russian localities to new heights in the coming time.

Mr Plam Andrey Yurievich said, every year, the government of Russian Federation grants scholarships to more than 900 Vietnamese students in total to study in this foreign country.

He also underlined the importance of opening nonstop air services between Da Nang and Russian localities for the sake of better bilateral relationships.

He also took the opportunity to ask for more favourable conditions created by the Da Nang authorities to help Russian businesses operate well in the city.

On the same day, the new Russian Consul General paid courtesy calls on municipal People’s Council Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung and municipal Fatherland Front Committee Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Lien.
