Greater efforts will be exerted by the Da Nang administration to effectively implement ‘2020: the year of promoting investment attraction’ landmark campaign. This objective was confirmed at the ongoing 12^th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 9^th tenure for the 2016 - 2021 term.

Delivering a report on this year’s socio-economic and defence performance and next year’s tasks at this morning’s opening session, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh affirmed, the domestic and foreign investment channeled into the city grew sharply this year.

By late this year, the city is likely to attract over 3,696 billion VND worth of domestic investment and over 658 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI).

So far this year, investment licences have been granted to 118 FDI projects with a total registered capital of more than 437 million USD, 8 times higher than the figure recorded last year.

With regard to key tasks set for next year, the city targets to secure a rise of 8-9% in its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) compared to this year.

Besides, effective measures will be taken to implement a project for promoting the use of public transport combined with the control of private vehicles and the reasonable regulation of traffic flows entering the city during 2018 - 2020 period.

Heed will also be paid to complete necessary procedures for the deployment of specific programmes under the smart city building project, and start the work on the Da Nang Software Park No 2.

More efforts will be made to implement a project for turning Da Nang into an environmentally friendly city in the 2021 - 2025 period, and release specific mechanisms to pilot night-time tourism activities next year.
