Boosting bilateral cooperative ties with South Korea

During his Monday reception for new South Korean Consul General in Da Nang Ahn Min-Sik, municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia remarked, the establishment of the South Korean Consulate marks an important milestone in the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The city Party chief asked for help from new Consul General Ahn Min Sik to encourage more investors from his country to put their money in Da Nang in the aspects of information technology, hi-tech, tourism, education, healthcare.

Besides, the host affirmed that the most possible favourable conditions would be created by the city administration to ensure the effective operation of the South Korean Consulate General.

In reply, Consul General Ahn Min-Sik vowed that, during his tenure, he would make every effort to boost his country’s cooperative ties with Da Nang and other localities in Central Viet Nam. He also pledged to appeal for more South Korean investment in the above-recommended aspects in the coming time.

Also on Monday, during his meeting with municipal People's Council Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung, Consul General Ahn Min-Sik pledged to promote the multi-faceted relationship between Da Nang and South Korea in an intensive and effective manner.

On the same day, the South Korean diplomat also paid courtesy calls on municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh and municipal Fatherland Front Committee Chairwoman Dang Thi Kim Lien.

South Korea is one of Da Nang’s major and important partners in many aspects. Currently, South Korea ranks 2nd in the number of projects operating in Da Nang, and 5th in terms of the total registered investment capital channeled into the city.

As of mid-September, the city had attracted 193 South Korean-invested projects worth over 316 million US$ in total.

By late this year, Da Nang is likely to have welcomed 1.8 million South Korean visitors in total. More than 10,000 South Korean nationals now live and work in the city.

There are 4 non-stop air services connecting Da Nang with the East Asian country.

Up to now, Da Nang has established friendly and cooperative relationships with 5 South Korean localities, namely Changwon, Daegu, Hwaseong, Seoul, and Gyeongsan.

Recent years have seen fruitful bilateral cooperative activities in economy, agriculture, education, human resource exchange, and healthcare.

Every year, many groups of students and volunteers from the East Asian country come to Da Nang for their active engagement in helping the disadvantaged at social sponsor centres and sponsoring charity activities across the city.
