During this year, both Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of Natural Resources and the Environment (MONREs) have sent their officials to exchange and share experiences in the management work of land, environment, water resources, hydrometeorology and remote sensing.
On the occasion of Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to Laos in February, representatives from the MONREs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on boosting bilateral cooperation about climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation.
Under the MoU, a ministerial meeting on biodiversity conservation and enhancing the management of nature reserves in Viet Nam is scheduled to take place in Quang Binh this month.
In 2020, the MONREs will make joint efforts to share information on transboundary rivers and hydropower dams on the mainstream of the Mekong River which will be put into operation soon.
