City Party chief hosts Laotian high-ranking officials

On Tuesday, Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Truong Quang Nghia hosted a delegation of the Lao National Assembly (NA)’s Economic, Technology and Environment Committee led by the committee’s Chairman Bounpone Sisoulath.

Secretary Nghia briefed his Lao guests on his city’s development strategies in line with the  Politburo’s Resolution No 43-NQ/TW regarding the city’s progress by 2030 with a vision toward 2045, with a target at developing Da Nang into a green, modern-smart, global city with unique identity.

In particular, Da Nang has actively participated in many bilateral cooperation programme and support activities for south-central localities of Laos.

The city Party chief highlighted the importance of developing the transport network connecting Lao localities located on the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) and the south-central provinces of Laos with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, hereby, tapping the full potential of their cooperation.

In reply, Chairman Bounponse Sisoulath affirmed that the Party, the State and the NA of Laos show their keen interest in Viet Nam’s experience in socio-economic development, technology and environment, and the legislative activities of the Vietnamese NA.

The Lao high-ranking official also fully concurred with the proposal made by Secretary Nghia about the promotion of the transport system for the sake of more effective economic cooperation between Lao localities and Da Nang, and Viet Nam at large.

Da Nang has to date entered into a total of 30 agreements and MoUs with many Lao localities, including Vientiane, Savannakhet, Champasak, Sekong, Saravane, Attapeu, Bolikhamsay and Xaynhaburi, with a focus on speeding up cooperative ties in human resources, support for business partnerships, planning, agriculture, health care, education and social-cultural affairs.

The city exported around 23 million USD worth of goods to Laos in the first 10 months of 2019, mostly petrol and rubber and plastic products.
