New South Korean Consulate General in Da Nang appointed

On Thursday, Ms Nguyen Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Consular Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, handed a letter of credence to Mr Ahn Min-sik to confirm his official appointment as the South Korean Consul General in Da Nang.

The newly-accredited diplomat expressed his happiness at receiving the letter. He also affirming that he would do his utmost to appeal for even more businesses from his country to pour money into Da Nang, and the central region as a whole, as well as advertise the beautiful images of the city to South Korean citizens.

Mr Ahn Min-sik is a professional diplomat. He has worked in representative offices of South Korea in such foreign countries as the USA, Costa Rica, the Philippines, India and Paraguay.

Since Viet Nam and South Korea established the bilateral strategic cooperative partnership in 2019, South Korean has become one of Viet Nam’s leading important partners in such aspects as politics, economy, investment, and tourism.

South Korea is the second largest tourist market in the country. In 2018 alone, Viet Nam welcomed a total of 3.4 million of South Korean visitors, accounting for 24.7% of the total number of foreign tourist arrivals in Viet Nam.

The bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached 66.2 billion USD last year. South Korea is Viet Nam's third largest trading partner after China and EU. South Korea is the second largest ODA donor after Japan with a total committed capital of 3.7 billion USD during the 2018-2020 period.
