Strengthening Da Nang-Japan strategic partnership
On Tuesday, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia played host to Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Umeda Kunio.

During his reception for his Japanese guest, Secretary Nghia remarked, over recent years, Da Nang has paid special attention to promoting bilateral cooperation ties in economy and culture with Japanese localities. The city’s efforts have significantly contributed to deepening the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Japan.
The Party chief Nghia said, in 2019 alone, the number of Japanese tourist arrivals to the city rose by 50% against last year to reach over 183,000. This positive result demonstrated the effective tourism cooperation between the two sides.
The host noted, currently, Japan takes the lead amongst the city’s foreign investors from 40 countries and territories worldwide with 194 projects, worth more than 950 million USD in total.
He, also, took the opportunity to ask for help from the Japanese diplomat to appeal for even more investors from his country to invest into Da Nang, especially in the city’s hi-tech industry.
For his part, Mr Umeda Kunio thanked the city leader for his warm welcome, and asked a helping hand from the Da Nang authorities for the opening of the Japanese Consulate General in the city in the coming time.
The guest vowed that he would do his utmost to foster the bilateral cooperation with Da Nang in such aspects as trade, investment, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchange in the years ahead.
