Two Japanese minesweepers, carrying a total of 180 naval officers and sailors, docked at the Tien Sa Port on Thursday morning, to begin their 4-day visit to Da Nang. Their visit aimed to enhancing the relationship between the Vietnamese Navy and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF).

Japanese Ship (JS) Bungo (MST-464), an Uraga-class minesweeper tender, and JS Takashima (MSC) are categorised as Hirashima-class coastal minesweeper.

During their stay in the city, the Japanese guests are set to pay courtesy visits to the municipal government leaders, and visit some popular attractions in the city.

In addition, Japanese naval soldiers will share their experience in removing underwater bombs and mines with their Vietnamese colleagues.

Yesterday afternoon, Colonel Ikubo SeiJi, Commander of Minesweeper Fleet 3 of the Japanese Navy, paid a courtesy call on Director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs Huynh Duc Truong.

In his meeting with Director Truong, the Japanese guest remarked there are now about 177 Japanese businesses, representative offices and Japanese-funded projects in Da Nang, with a total investment capital of nearly 809 million USD, accounting for 24% of the city's total FDI capital.

The host hoped that Japanese naval officers and sailors would have useful activities and memorable moments during their stay in the city.

He also asked for help from the Japanese visitors to advertise the beautiful images of Da Nang to their citizens.
