Agreement on building ENSURE Centre signed
On Thursday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh and Director of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Viet Nam Kim Jin-oh together inked an agreement on the construction of the Integrated Centre for Controlling Green and Smart Urban Resilience (ENSURE Centre) in the city.
In his remarks at the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman Chinh highlighted the importance of the building of the ENSURE Centre in helping the municipal government effectively handle the unexpected natural disaster-related incidents.
He said thanks to active support from the Deagu government, Da Nang has prepared for ENSURE Centre-related documents since 2016. In late May 2019, KOICA considered to grant 10.5 million USD in non-refundable aid for the project.
Mr Kim Jin-oh affirmed, KOICA would send consultants and experts to Da Nang to implement the project soon.
In May 2019, representatives from the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the authorities of Da Nang, and the provinces of Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam, jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on implementing a smart urban valley programme in Central Viet Nam.
The ENSURE Centre project showcases the cooperation between Da Nang and KOICA in building a smart city. The centre will bring benefits to Da Nang and central regional localities which have been frequently affected by natural disasters and climate change.
