Present at the event were municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, along with municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho and Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, plus about 300 representatives from foreign diplomatic agencies and FDI businesses from across the city.

In his remarks at the meeting, Chairman Tho briefed the participants on the city’s socio-economic achievements over the past year.

In particular, the city's economy maintained stable growth in many aspects. Its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 6.47% compared with the same period last year. The total budget collection reached over 28,170 billion VND, equal to 3.5% against 2018.

The city leader noted the above-mentioned positive results were mainly attributed to great efforts made by international organisations, experts and investors in effectively implementing many cooperative programmes and projects in the city in such aspects as tourism, infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and investment promotion activities.

On behalf of the city leaders, Chairman Tho highly applauded ex-pat community in Da Nang for their great devotion for the city's progress over the past year. He also took the opportunity to ask them to continue joining efforts with municipal government and its people to develop Da Nang into a socio-economic hub in Viet Nam, and Asia as a whole, by 2030, and a creative and innovative startup in Asia by 2045.

He remarked that the city is now focusing on effectively implementing its key campaign ‘2020: The Year of Investment Promotion’ which is offering a good opportunity to boost win-win cooperation between the city authorities and their foreign partners.

The leader of the municipal government also expressed his belief that the ex-pat community in Da Nang would continue their efforts to make Da Nang a more prosperous, peaceful, civilised and modern city in the future.

On the occasion, 39 foreign organisations and 25 individuals were presented with Certificates of Merit from the municipal People’s Committee in recognition of their great devotion for the city's growth, as well as their active involvement in strengthening international friendship, and humanitarian aid work in the city over the past year.
