Promoting comprehensive cooperation with Nemuro
On Thursday, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh hosted a reception for a group of visitors from Nemuro City of Japan, led by its Mayor Masatoshi Ishigaki.

During his meeting with the Japanese guests, Vice Chairman Minh briefed his guests on the city’s remarkable achievements over recent years, as well as its development strategies.
He added, in 2019 alone, Da Nang welcomed 3.3 million international visitors, including 200,000 from Japan. Currently, Japan is currently top foreign investor in Da Nang with 200 projects totalling 900 million USD.
Such Japanese-invested enterprises as Daiwa and Mabuchi are operating effectively in the city.
Most notably, Japan has recently opened a Consulate General in Da Nang in a bid to facilitate Japanese investors to seek investment opportunities in the central coastal city and neighbouring localities.
The host informed that the annual Viet Nam-Japan cultural exchange festival is organised successfully in the city, attracting the participation of Japanese leaders and its arts troupes.
The Japanese language has been taught at some junior and senior high schools, and the University of Foreign Language Studies, in Da Nang.
Mr Minh took the opportunity to ask the Japanese diplomat to do his utmost to appeal for even more investors from his country to pour the money into the city in the coming time.
In reply, Mayor Masatoshi Ishigaki said he was very impressed with the city’s rapid economic growth in recent years.
He added “Located on the eastern side of Hokkaido, Nemuro boats strengths in the fishing industry, and fish processing industry with a focus on mackerel pike, crab, and cod fish”.
At present, 250 Vietnamese students are joining in internship programmes in Nemuro.
The Japanese visitor hoped that the bilateral cooperation ties with Da Nang in such aspects as economy, society and human resources would be strengthened in the years ahead.
