Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan visits the city

On Saturday, Mr Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Organisation Commission of the Party Central Committee cum Head of the Viet Nam - Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, hosted a reception in Da Nang for Mr Toshihiro Nikai, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan cum Chairman of the Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance (JVPA).

Also present at the event was Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia.

Mr Chinh expressed his honour and pleasure to welcome Secretary General Toshihiro Nikai and the Japanese delegation in the first days of 2020.

He highly lauded the visit made by the Japanese guests which will help to boost bilateral ties between friendship parliamentarians' groups of the two countries, and between Viet Nam and Japan as a whole.

The host also expressed his delight at fruitful results from comprehensive cooperation programmes with Japan, especially between the Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group and the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance. He noted Viet Nam is always considered Japan as its important strategic partner.

Mr Chinh also took the opportunity to thank Mr Nikai Toshihiro and JVPA  members for their active support for Viet Nam over recent years.

He hoped that Viet Nam and Japan would continue supporting each other for regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea disputes.

In reply, Secretary General Toshihiro Nikai expressed his pleasure to visit Viet Nam, and join in economic, cultural and tourism exchange activities in the country.

He vowed to do his utmost to boost people-to-people exchange activities, as well as promote investment activities and the advertisement of tourism potential in each country.

It is known that Secretary General Toshihiro Nikai has a 4-day working visit to Da Nang and Quang Nam Province until 14 January. He is accompanied by more than 1,000 delegates who are parliamentarians, provincial leaders, representatives of ministries, economic organisations and businesses across Japan. This is the largest delegation from Japan to visit Viet Nam to date.

On the occasion, many important activities will take place in the two localities, including the official opening of a Japanese Consulate Office in Da Nang.
