During his reception for his guest, Chairman Tho said that as of February 2020, Singapore had been the second largest foreign investor in the city with a total investment of more than 800 million USD.

Last year, the city’s exports to Singapore hit an estimated 11 million USD, up 10% against 2018. In recent years, Singaporean investors have poured money into short and medium-term projects in Da Nang.

Currently, the city is cooperating with Singapore's Surbana Jurong Company to adjust the city’s master planning towards 2030 with a vision to 2045.

The host highly appreciated Singapore's smart city model. He also asked for help from the Singaporean government to develop Da Nang into a smarter city in the future.

Chairman Tho remarked that Da Nang and Singapore boasted great potential for cooperation in various aspects, especially tourism. He hoped that the Singaporean ambassador would continue her efforts to help Da Nang to encourage more businesses from her country to invest in his city.

Ms Catherine Wong Siow said that recent years have seen a growing number of visitor arrivals to the city from Singapore. The Singaporean diplomat highlighted the significance of offering more nonstop flights between Da Nang and Singapore in the time ahead in order to meet the increasing travel demand of travellers from the two destinations.

The Singaporean guest remarked that Da Nang has emerged as one of the most attractive destinations for Singaporean investors. She hoped that the Da Nang authorities would create the most favourable conditions for Singaporean businesses to seek investment opportunities and operate effectively in the city.
