Accelerating establishment of AmCham representative office in the city
Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh highlighted the growing comprehensive strategic partnership between Da Nang and the USA during his recent reception in the city for Ms Mary Tarnowka, the Executive Director of the Ho Chi Minh City-headquartered American Chamber of Commerce Viet Nam (AmCham Viet Nam).
Vice Chairman Minh remarked as of late 2019, Da Nang had attracted 56 US-invested projects totalling 589 million USD.
He affirmed that Da Nang has always considered the USA as one of its key economic partners. The municipal authorities, therefore, have focused on appealing for more US businesses to seek investment opportunities in the city in such aspects as information technology, electronics, aerospace, automation, artificial intelligence and support industries, health care, education, and real estates.
The host also highlighted the significance of the establishment of a representative office of AmCham in Da Nang in ensuring the smooth operation of the US firms based in the city, as well as encouraging even more US investors to pour money into the city.
Mr Minh emphasised that 2020 was the year for Viet Nam assuming the ASEAN Chair, and for celebrating 25 years of the diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and the USA. He, therefore, hoped that the bilateral cooperative relations between Viet Nam and the USA would be strengthened in the years ahead, hereby fostering bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, security, and defence.
For her part, Ms Mary Tarnowka highlighted the rapid economic growth that Da Nang has achieved over recent years. She highly lauded the city’s efforts in issuing more preferential policies for foreign investors, including those from her country.
The US guest also asked for help from the Da Nang government to facilitate US businesses operating in the city to expand their business activities, thereby promoting the strategic partnership between the 2 countries.
In addition, Ms Mary Tarnowka accepted invitation from the city’s leaders to attend the 'Talk of Spring 2020' programme which is scheduled to take place in late April.
