During his meeting with his Malaysian guest, Chairman Tho remarked that, as of late February, Da Nang had attracted 15 Malaysian-invested projects valued at nearly 115 million USD. Malaysia is currently ranked 7th among Da Nang’s foreign investors from 45 countries and territories worldwide. Last year, the total imports and exports between Da Nang and Malaysia hit an estimated 10 million and 12 million USD.

The host remarked that Da Nang and Malaysia shared many similarities to explore the potential for cooperation on economy, human resource training, information technology, tourism and more.

The city leader hoped that the Malaysian diplomat would do her utmost to encourage more investors from her country to seek investment opportunities in Da Nang. He also highlighted the importance of opening more non-stop air services connecting Da Nang and Malaysia to increase visits and arrivals by travellers and investors from Malaysia, hereby boosting trade and cooperative links between the two sides.

In reply, the Malaysian ambassador said 14 Malaysian businesses are now operating effectively in Da Nang thanks to the open, fair, transparent, and healthy investment environment in the city.

She also took the opportunity to thank the municipal government for creating favourable conditions for Malaysian investors to operate effectively in the city.

Mrs Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa highly lauded the Da Nang authorities for their great efforts in controlling and preventing the spread of the deadly virus into the city.

She vowed to exert her efforts to encourage even more Malaysian investors to put the money into the city in the time ahead.
