City leader hosts US naval commander

On Thursday afternoon, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho played host to Admiral John C. Aquilino, Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet.

During the reception for his US guest, Chairman Tho highly praised the US businesses operating in Da Nang for their great devotion for the city’s progress over recent years.

The host said Da Nang has to date attracted nearly 60 US-invested projects worth around 600 million USD in total. The city has also established bilateral relations with some US localities.

The city leader took the opportunity to thank the US Embassy and the US Consulate General in Viet Nam for advertising the beautiful images of Da Nang to US citizens.

He also expressed his thankfulness to the US Navy for its active support for the city in various aspects, especially in search and rescue activities.

In reply, Admiral John C. Aquilino thanked the city leaders for their warm welcome and facilitating US officers and crew members to participate in numerous cultural and sports exchange activities during their stay in Da Nang.

During their 5-day visit, the US military personnel will join cultural and sports exchange activities in the city, and visit local attractions.
