City leader pays inspection visits to checkpoints

On Thursday, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang paid inspection visits to checkpoints which have been set up within major entry and exit points in the city in a bid to contain further spread of the novel coronavirus.

Dr Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Director of the municipal Department of Health, said checkpoints have been set up at the end points of Truong Sa and Tran Dai Nghia streets in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Hoa Hai Ward, at the foot of the Hai Van Pass, and at the southern end of the Hai Van Tunnel in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, at Hoa Nhon and Hoa Phuoc entrance gates in Hoa Vang District, and at the Da Nang Railway Station.

Mrs Yen remarked that, around 12-13 healthcare workers, police officers, border guards, and volunteer students are staffing three shifts around the clock at each checkpoint. They are responsible for implementing temperature screening of all arrivals to the city, and requiring them to fill in a health declaration.

“Arrivals from foreign countries and localities nationwide are required to have their temperature checked at these checkpoints. Anyone found to have a fever of more than 38 degrees Celsius will be sent to a local hospital for further checks. Foreigners will be sent to the Police Hospital No 199, whilst Vietnamese nationals will be taken to the Hospital for Lung Diseases.” Director Yen noted.

Deputy Secretary Quang praised staff of checkpoints for their dedication and devotion to their tasks. He also encouraged them to continue their efforts and upholding their responsibility to fulfil their assigned tasks.
