Returnees included Vietnamese students and citizens who are living in Italy’s regions hard hit by the disease.

Earlier on 17 April, the flight transported to Italy a number of Italians who have been trying to return home from Viet Nam, along with surgical face masks as gifts of the Vietnamese government and people to support Italy in the fight against the deadly disease.

Arranged by the Vietnamese government, the Italian Embassy in Viet Nam and the Italy-headquartered ENI Company, the flight was part of the Vietnamese government’s efforts to help foreign diplomatic agencies in the country carry out citizen protection duties and support the international community in the fight against Covid-19.

After the flight touched down in Da Nang, all the passengers and crew members had their health checked, and all of them were placed into a 2 -week quarantine in the city's designated sites on their arrival in Da Nang following the Vietnamese Ministry of Health’s guidelines.

Also, the aircraft, the entire passenger cabin, cockpit and cargo storage area were disinfected after landing.
