Press agencies praised for contributions to the city's progress

In recognition of the 95th anniversary of Viet Nam’s Revolutionary Press Day (21 June), Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang on Wednesday visited the DA NANG Newspaper, the representative office of the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) representative office for the Central - Central Highlands region, and the Voice of Vietnam Radio (VOV)'s Central Region Bureau in Da Nang.

He was accompanied by some representatives from the municipal departments of Publicity and Training, and Information and Communications, and the city’s Party Committee Office.

Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang highlighted the vital role press agencies play in publicising the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State and the city. Mr Quang also greatly appreciated local press agencies for their support and contributions for Da Nang’s progress.

During his visit to the DA NANG Newspaper, the city leader extended his best wishes to the editors, reporters and staff of the newspaper on the occasion of their special day.  

Mr Quang commended the editors, reporters and staff of the newspaper for their hard work, commitment and dedication. He also acknowledged the newspaper’s efforts to help the city stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic by disseminating reliable information, raising public awareness, and debunking fake news, as well as to promote the development of the city.

The city leader also underlined the importance of upholding the newspaper’s strengths, and promoting its publicity of the city’s development strategies by 2030 with its visions towards 2045, plus the city government’s Covid-19 recovery strategy.

In reply, the newspaper’s Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Duc Nam thanked the city leaders for their kind concern and support for his organisation over recent years, as well as for providing his organisation’s staff a new, beautiful and comfortable workplace.

The newspaper leader also affirmed that his organisation would continue its efforts to provide reliable information about the city for its readers in a timely fashion, and fulfill its publicity tasks in a more effective manner.

During a meeting between the city leaders and journalists from local and central news agencies based in Da Nang on the same day, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh hailed journalists for their efforts during Viet Nam’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Chinh also highlighted the significant role of media agencies they play in effectively publishing the Party and State’s policies and laws, while rejecting wrongful allegations and creating social consensus.

He also took the opportunity to appeal for the journalists to uphold their work ethics, and raise their sense of responsibility to justify their positions as soldiers on the cultural and ideological front, as well as to make greater contributions to Da Nang’s progress.
