These figures were released in the 22nd session of the municipal Party Committee (PaC) held on Friday morning. The event was co-chaired by municipal PaC Secretary Truong Quang Nghia, PaC Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, and People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho.

In his remarks at the meeting, Secretary Nghia highlighted remarkable socio-economic achievements the city gained during the 6-month period. The city party chief said the coronavirus pandemic has been having severe impact on the city’s businesses, especially those involved in the tourism industry. As a result, the city saw the minus growth of its gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the first half of the year.

The city Party chief noted that most of the city’s economic indicators did not fulfill their targets, whilst there were delays in the site clearance, compensation and resettlement work of some key projects in the city.

Mr Nghia highlighted the importance of developing comprehensive solutions to help Da Nang’s economic recovery following Covid-19, and ensure the stable lives of local citizens. Besides, greater efforts should be made to ensure the success of the forthcoming 22nd Congress of the municipal PaC for the 2020 - 2025 tenure.
