Apart from frontline healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to treat Covid-19 patients and save the lives of seriously ill patients, Da Nang's citizens have been active in supporting their city's efforts to fight Covid-19 with a motto of "Every citizen in Da Nang is a ‘frontline soldier’ and every residential area is a fortress to prevent the epidemic".

Members of the Women's Union in Cam Le District Hoa An Ward have been active in reminding local residents to strictly practise the city's social distancing rules
Members of Cam Le District's Hoa An Ward chapter of the Da Nang Women's Union have been active in encouraging local residents to strictly practise the city's social distancing rules.

After the residential area No 32 in Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District was put under lockdown, Mr Le Vinh, a member of the Covid-19 community task force in this area, has been busier than ever.

Mr Vinh usually starts his working day at 5.00am by walking along local streets in order to encourage people to wear face coverings and maintain a two metre distance from others when doing exercises in front of their houses.

Then, he staffs blockaded areas, delivers food parcels to families under blockdown, checks their body temperature at least twice a day, and raises their awareness of personal hygiene to protect themselves from Covid-19.

Mr Vinh said his Covid-19 community task force now has 9 members who are always ready and willing to to fullfil their assigned tasks to help Da Nang to contain coronavirus pandemic.

Residents in Cam Le District's Hoa An Ward where new community transmission cases of coronavirus have been confirmed, have stayed vigilant and strictly practised the city's social distancing rules.

Mr Nguyen Van Su, Vice Chairman of the Hoa An Ward People's Committee, said that three Covid-19 community task teams have been set up in the ward. The team members are responsible for regularly conducting patrols along local streets to publicise the Da Nang Covid-19 situation to raise public awareness and promote residents' involvement in preventing the spread of the virus.

"Checkpoints have been set up at the intersection of Ton Duc Thang and Bac Son streets, and the intersection of Yen The and Bac Son streets, plus the Hoa An Market. The staff are working around the clock at these checkpoints." Vice Chairman Su added.

In a similar vein, high vigilance against Covid-19 has been accelerated in a stricter manner in Hoa Vang District after many community transmission cases of coronavirus have been detected in this rural district reported since late last month.

After a person living in Dieu Phong Village, Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang Ditsrict was diagnosed with coronavirus in early August, the Hoa Nhon Commune authorities have immediately traced close contacts of the new confirmed case, and a Covid-19 community task forcee was stablished in a bid to quickly respond to the Covid-19 situation here.

Chairman of the Hoa Nhon Commune People's Committee Nguyen Tan Phat said most of local residents have had higher level of private self-awareness in practising the city's social distancing rules compared with the city's first social distancing period in April.
