More cash and in-kind donations for the city's coronavirus fight

On Wednesday, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee received 1.45 billion VND in cash donations from the Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in a bid to support the city's eforts to tackle Covid-19.

In details, one billion VND was contributed by VNPT, while the remaining 450 million VND was raised from staff members of the Da Nang branch of VNPT.

Chief Representative of VNPT Da Nang Vu Truong Giang said VNPT Da Nang has been active in providing telecommunications and information technology services for coronavirus isolation sites and frontline hospitals across Da Nang after the city braced for a second wave of Covid-19 infections in late July.

Mr Giang that technical staff of the VNPT Da Nang have completed the installation of telecommunications and information technology services at the Tien Son Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients within only 60 hours, 72 hours ahead of schedule.

In addition, VNPT Da Nang has provided free 500 data SIMs to frontline medical workers, and reduced cell phone service and internet access charges for its customers affected by the pandemic.

Chairman of the municipal Fatherland Front Committee Dang Thi Kim Lien thanked the donors for their generosity and active support to help Da Nang to fight Covid-19.

Also on the same day, the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee received cash and in-kind support from some individuals, businesses and organisations to support the city’s efforts to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In particular, the Ha Noi-based Dai Viet Group donated Spirulina products, totalling 700 million VND, to the Da Nang General Hospital, the Lung Hospital and the Cancer Hospital, whilst the city branch of the Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) provided 4,500 coronavirus protective suits, 100,000 antibacterial cloth masks, and 500 N95 filter respirators.

The Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery offered 1,000 in-kind gifts, worth 250 million VND in total, to people who  lost their job due to coronavirus. Each of the gifts consisted of rice, instant noodles, antibacterial soap bars, and tubes of vitamin C.

Also on Wednesday, representatives from the Da Nang Labour Union, and the Authority of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and industrial parks, presented cash gifts of 2 million VND each to 10 Covid-19 patients who are workers in local industrial parks.

Also, the Authority of the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and industrial parks provided essential supplies to some companies in local industrial parks.

In details, the KANE - M Company in the Lien Chieu District-based Hoa Khanh Industrial Park received 500 anti-drop caps, 600 antibacterial cloth masks, 20 bottles of hand sanitizer gel, and 25 other gifts.

The Fujikura Automotive Vietnam Co., Ltd., received 500 anti-drop caps, 1,000 antibacterial cloth masks, 40 bottles of hand sanitizer gel, and 65 other essential items.

The Sinaran Vietnam Co Ltd received 600 anti-drop caps, 600 antibacterial cloth masks, 30 bottles of hand sanitizer gel, and 36 other essential items.

Da Nang Labour Union Chairman Nguyen Duy Minh distributed 320 anti-drop caps and 100 face masks to the municipal Journalists’ Association.

On Wednesday afternoon, representatives from the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee handed 20 billion VND in cash donations to the municipal Department of Health for buying chemicals to conduct Covid-19 diagnostic tests.

Chairwoman of the Da Nang Fatherland Front Committee Dang Thi Kim Lien said that the cash donations were raised by generous philanthropists nationwide to help the city tackle the virus.
