More than 56,000 people across Da Nang have experienced pay cuts or lost their jobs due to the outbreak.

All companies operating in the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and local industrial parks are taking more drastic actions to fulfil their ‘dual missions’ of preventing the spread of infection and keeping on production in the light of Covid-19 outbreak.

After the city braced for a second wave of the Covid-19 infections in late July, the Da Nang Labour Union has introduced drastic measures to prevent its members from potential exposure to the deadly virus.

Da Nang Labour Union Chairman Nguyen Duy Minh said all Da Nang-based production companies ensure best practices of infection prevention and control measures. Their staff are required to queue for having their body temperatures measured and disinfecting their hands before entering their workplace. All of them are asked to wear face coverings at all times while in the workplace.

Besides, all the staff members are required to maintain a 2 metre distance from others at both workplaces and at dining areas as per the ongoing citywide social distancing rules.

Chairman Minh said, in response to Prime Minister's appeal to ensure that no one is left behind during the pandemic, the Da Nang Labour has provided practical support for its members to help them get through the coronavirus crisis.

In particular, the organisation has presented cash gifts of 2 million VND each to Covid-19 patients who are workers in local industrial parks.

Also, cash gifts of one million VND each have gone to support 1,000 other workers in difficult circumstances.

In addition, 2,000 bottles of hand sanitizer gel, 10,000 antibacterial cloth masks, and 500 parcels of essentials have been given to self-managed groups of workers in the city. 15 electric fans have been distributed to residence halls for workers in the Hoa Cam Industrial Park.

Besides, 3,000 coronavirus protective suits, 3,000 antibacterial nano masks, 1,000 plastic masks, and 10,000 face shields have been distributed to members of Da Nang Labour Union.
