Da Nang eyes to establish friendship ties with Czech city of Brno
Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hanh had a virtual meeting on Tuesday with a group of representatives from the Czech city of Brno to discuss the expected establishment of bilateral friendship and cooperation in the time ahead.
Emerged on the event’s agenda were discussions about the great potential to set up the bilateral cooperative ties between the two cities in tourism, high technology and information technology.
Da Nang is gearing up its energy to realise an ambitious target of developing itself into a modern-smart, ecological and global city, and a centre for entrepreneurship and innovation in Asia.
It is noticeable that Da Nang shares some similarities with Brno in tourism development orientations. Based on that, it is a good idea to speed up bilateral cooperation in promoting cultural and natural heritage values for the sake of the tourism development in the two cities, and exchange experience in organising regional and international-leveled exhibitions, conferences and seminars.
Over recent times, the non-stop Da Nang-Doha service, operated by Qatar Airways, has helped the central Vietnamese city easily connect with business and leisure destinations in the Middle East, Western Europe and North America. It is hoped that the two cities would promote their images to each other.
Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic after the main capital, Prague, and one of the 100 largest cities of the EU. This city is the important centre of the Czech judiciary and higher education. The Brno Exhibition Centre ranks amongst the largest of its kind in Europe.
Major global companies and property developers are attracted to Brno’s rapidly growing trade, science, research and innovation, and information technology sectors, which have helped this city emerge as a centre for international trade fairs and exhibitions.
The Brno representative affirmed, given the aforementioned advantages, the bilateral friendly and cooperation relationships between the two cities would be established as soon as possible for their mutual interest and development.
