Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has cabled a message of congratulations to Emir of Kuwait Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on his coronation.

Bilateral diplomatic ties were established on 10 January, 1976. Kuwait was the first member of the Gulf Cooperation Council and also one of the first Middle Eastern countries to form a diplomatic relationship with Viet Nam.
