Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, recently visited neighbour Thua Thien-Hue Province to donated 500 million VND from Da Nang government to the families of 13 military officials and men who laid down their lives whilst performing their rescue missions.

Heavy rain has triggered landslides across Central Viet Nam over the past week. The most notable event occurred on 12 October at the construction site of the  Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric plant, which located deep in the jungle in Phong Xuan Commune, Phong Dien District, Thua Thien-Hue Province.

A rescue team of 21 people was sent to the site in the afternoon of 12 October. At 11 pm they found that their progress was blocked by landslides on the road, and so they stopped at a rangers station for the night. 

Unfortunately, during the night a further landslide occurred, hitting accommodation for 13 of the rescue team. They have not been seen since.

During the donation reception, the Deputy Secretary Nguyen Van Quang extended his most profound condolences to the families of the deceased and encouraged them to overcome this devastating blow.

The Da Nang leader highly appreciated the martyrs for their courageous spirit and brave sacrifices. Thua Thien –Hue provincial Party Committee Deputy Secretary Bui Thanh Ha sincerely thanked the leaders and people of Da Nang for their timely assistance to his flooding-plagued locality, and the families of the victims in particular, over the pats time.
